The Singapore Maker Map contains everything you need to do a hardware startup

The Singapore maker community is coming into its own. It’s extremely diverse, consisting of a mish-mash of old-style manufacturers, leather crafters, artists, as well as hardware and software hackers. While these subgroups have certainly been plugging away for years, it’s only recently that they’re corralled under the maker movement banner.

The community received an extra dose of recognition this year. Home-Fix, a traditional retailer, opened up its headquarters to a rag-tag group of hackers, while the government is also chipping in with IDA Labs, which it hopes will spur interest among the young in tinkering. These collaboration spaces are just part of the equation. As this community-made map shows, the maker movement also consists of 3D printing services, manufacturers, and electronics retailers.
