Australia trailed just behind Singapore in the Asia Pacific, followed by China, Japan, and India. In the city rankings, Singapore dropped to 10th overall and 2nd in the region, with Hong Kong overtaking the city-state for the top spot in Asia.
Singapore also led in the talent and engagement segment, according to the report, which noted that 40 innovation labs in the city-state launched almost 500 innovation projects as of last year.
โThe innovation labs we have funded have created 180 high-value jobs,โ said Ravi Menon, managing director of Singaporeโs Monetary Authority, in the report. โApproximately 60% of these jobs are held by Singaporeans. More than that, there is valuable learning and capability transfer, helping to build our local talent pool and pipeline for future leadership roles.โ
The Global Fintech Rankings 2021 report is the second edition by global research and analytics firm Findexable. The companyโs index now covers 264 cities across 83 countries.
