Singapore blockchain firm names ex-Brave Browser exec as CEO

Singapore-based Zilliqa, a startup that provides blockchain solutions for enterprises and decentralized applications, said it has appointed ex-Brave executive Ben Livshits to serve as its CEO.

Experience:

• Livshits has over two decades of tech experience under his belt and has most recently served as chief scientist at Brave, the company behind the Brave web browser. There, he helped the company build its research division from the ground up, helping increase its user base to almost 40 million today.
• The newly appointed CEO had also worked as an associate professor at Imperial College London, teaching graduate students about blockchain technology and programming languages, among others. Livshits is also a research associate at the University College London Centre for Blockchain Technologies.

• In his new role, Livshits will push Zilliqa’s global strategy, which includes growing its footprint within the global crypto space. The company also looks to enter new markets and expand the capabilities of its products to new areas, including decentralized finance, digital content creation, and non-fungible tokens.
• He will also helm Zilliqa’s efforts to make sustainable investments into creator economy-based projects, with the company aiming to step up its marketing and monetization methods across retail, gaming, sports, and art.
