Singapore’s Acronis appoints former GoDaddy exec as CEO

Singapore-based cyberprotection firm Acronis announced that it has roped in former GoDaddy executive Patrick Pulvermueller as its new chief executive officer.

Pulvermueller succeeds Serguei Beloussov, who founded the company in 2003 and has been CEO since 2013. Beloussov will remain a member of the board and will step in as the company’s chief research officer.

The incoming CEO will be responsible for developing cloud-based go-to-market strategies, particularly through service providers, resale channels, and strategic alliances. Previously, Pulvermueller served as the CEO and chief operating officer of the GoDaddy-owned web-hosting company Host Europe Group, doubling as the chief of its German division as well.

Acronis provides cyberprotection for data, applications, and systems coupled with antivirus, backup, disaster recovery, and endpoint protection management solutions.

“Given Patrick’s demonstrated expertise in helping rapid growth companies scale and proven success in a channel-centric environment, we are confident he will accelerate Acronis’ success and prepare the company for the next stage,” said René Bonvanie, chairman of the board of directors.

The management changes follow Acronis’ recent US$250 million fundraising round that saw participation from investors like CVC Capital Partners. The latest round valued the company at over US$2.5 billion.

Acronis said it plans to use the fresh funds to develop its go-to-market initiatives – an area Pulvermueller has experience in – by expanding its partner network.
