Two Silicon Valley entrepreneurs launch an app to help you meet your doctor via video

You are not feeling well enough to step out, but you need to meet a doctor. What do you do?

Your consultant has suggested a medicine, but is refusing to put it down on paper. Again, what do you do?

India’s healthcare space is positively crying out for attention. Besides problems like fake medicines, a lack of transparency, and malpractices where patients are asked to undergo unnecessary tests, there just aren’t enough specialists to go around.

And if you find the right ones, they may be too busy to give you a quick appointment.

Silicon Valley entrepreneurs Jaideep Singh and Vivek Bansal, who are now back home in India, saw through the problem – and came up with SeeDoc, an app-based medical video consultation facility that was launched in Delhi today.

Its beta version has notched up over 300,000 users in just three months. The startup claims to be facilitating up to 500 video consultations a day.

“There is an acute shortage of quality medical care, and SeeDoc is witnessing unprecedented demand as it fills that vacuum perfectly,” says Vivek, who also founded the investment firm Plus Ventures and worked at Globespan.

His co-founder Jaideep has been a successful venture capitalist at Clearstone Venture Partners. He was the founder and CEO of search engine Spock.
