- Online wine subscription platform The French Cellar announced in a Facebook post on May 28 that the company has “ceased operations on 27 May 2019 and is now in the process of voluntary liquidation,” The Straits Times reports.
- Liquidators will be in touch with them and affected customers can “file a proof of debt in respect of [their] wine subscription,” according to the post.
- Existing customers, some of whom have lost “thousands of dollars,” will no longer receive the bottles of wine they’ve paid for.
- Founded in 2013 by Eric Joubert and Vincent Morello, the company offered customers subscription plans to French wines selected by its sommelier. It has delivered over 100,000 boxes in its five years of operations, according to its website.
