How Shopee drives brand protection on its platform (Infographic)

In 2024, a staff member working for Singaporean handbag brand Aupen stumbled upon counterfeits of its products being sold on an ecommerce platform. The bags were almost identical to the originals, but their quality was subpar, despite retailing for almost the same price.

So Aupen, who had to maintain its brand reputation, took legal action against the infringement and made efforts to build up consumer awareness around the counterfeits.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge that brands, consumers, and ecommerce platforms are facing today.

Identifying counterfeit goods and supporting companies in protecting their brand and reputation is crucial for ecommerce companies, but with hundreds of millions of sellers and listings on a single platform, catching bad actors is often easier said than done.

This is something that ecommerce players are working to overcome.
