Shopee has shuttered its platform in Poland and will stop supporting new orders starting 11:59 p.m. local time on January 13.
In a note on its platform, the company said orders placed before the set time will still be completed.

Shopee entered Poland in September 2021. It started offering promotional schemes right away and signed supply contracts with local logistics companies.
Exiting Poland is the latest setback for Shopee after ending operations in four Latin American countries in September 2022.
From April through November last year, Sea Group, Shopee’s parent firm, reportedly cut 7,000 jobs – about 10% of the total headcount – to reduce its burn rate.

Meanwhile, TikTok Shop – the ecommerce arm of ByteDance’s short video app – has been gaining ground in Southeast Asia.
TikTok Shop saw US$4.4 billion in gross merchandise volume from the region in 2022 alone, according to a recent report.
