Gemini, a US-based crypto exchange, is setting up a new office in India and is actively hiring for roles such as software engineers, technical product managers, and human resources staff in the country.
This will be Gemini’s second-largest engineering hub after the US, according to a media statement. The products and features built in India will be used by customers in over 70 countries.
The firm, which also has an office in Singapore, has also appointed global CTO Pravjit Tiwana as CEO of Gemini Asia Pacific. He will be responsible for launching and expanding products and services in the region and leading the go-to-market strategies.
Founded by well-known twins Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss in 2014, Gemini is a platform that allows customers to buy, sell, store, and stake cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, ether, and decentralized finance tokens.
Besides the US, Singapore, and India, Gemini also has offices in the UK and Ireland.
In January, it reportedly laid off 10% of its workforce. Gemini was also involved in a product dispute with crypto broker Genesis and its parent firm Digital Currency Group.
