Hi there,

As a gamer who spends most of his playing time on a PC, I keep a running list of products I’d purchase to keep my gaming rig up-to-date. My list typically includes essentials, such as graphics cards and processors, to meet the ever-increasing performance demands of modern games. Sometimes, I also throw in peripherals like a mouse or a keyboard if something interesting catches my eye.

One thing I don’t put much thought into is chairs.

I realize I might be in the minority, though, as gaming chairs have become big business, with brands like Secretlab successfully building a loyal customer base.

As my colleague Miguel highlights in this week’s Big Story, Secretlab has had a stellar year, logging significant growth in both revenue and profits compared to previous years. The company has also expanded into more affordable options and is now trying to establish that it’s not just a gaming brand.

Meanwhile, in this week’s Hot Take, I examine the Indonesian government’s recent ban on Temu.

While the government claims it’s for the benefit of local SMEs, the real question is whether it is doing enough to look after these enterprises, especially with existing issues like the prevalence of pirated products and counterfeit goods on other ecommerce platforms.
