Blackberry developers who want to build apps that integrate features of the Blackberry Messenger can now do so with the release of the BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform SDK 1.0 for BlackBerry Java final version and the BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform SDK 1.0 for BlackBerry WebWorks first public beta.
The release was announced late last month.
With the SDKs, developers can have access to APIs that enable them to build apps that integrate features like location-based service, multimedia, VoIP, and video. The release of these SDKs would close some of the gap between Blackberry and the iOS and Android platforms.
This move comes amidst the Blackberry’s decline in market share around the world, and app developers complaints about the difficulty of programming for the platform.
