In a statement, the company said that the decision is one of its efforts to solidify “financial independence” and “sustainable long-term growth.”

Affected employees will receive compensation packages according to local regulations, as well as health insurance and a mentoring program to help them get new jobs.

The firm added that the staff reduction will not affect its service.

Founded in 2017, Sayurbox is a farm-to-table distribution platform for fresh produce. It offers more than 5,000 products including vegetables, meat, poultry, snacks, and ready-to-eat dishes.

The firm was established by Alibaba eFounders fellow Amanda Susanti, ex-Unilever and IBM exec Metha Trisnawati, and former Gojek exec Rama Notowidigdo.

Earlier this year, Sayurbox raised US$120 million in a series C funding round led by Northstar and Alpha JWC Ventures.
