Indonesia loves Waze, already has 750,000 active users

waze cover

Google-owned maps and navigation app Waze revealed a few bits of data about its Indonesian users last week. Julie Mossler and Dror Cohen from Waze say that there are already 750,000 active users of Waze in Indonesia (not specified if that’s monthly or daily) and the country is among the top 10 biggest Waze user communities in the world. The team also claims Waze is the second most popular navigational app in Indonesia.

Waze – which was made in Israel before being acquired by Google – doesn’t have an office in Indonesia. But Waze is available in the Indonesian language and there are also online user forums for local users.

Jakarta vice governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that he uses Waze and also supports the usage of Waze in the country so that people can get real-time traffic information and choose the best route. The app itself has been used by many Indonesians to find good routes when driving back home for the Ramadhan holiday.

Waze is up against Google Maps and Nokia Drive in Indonesia as top choice of navigational app.
