1. Citesocial | Taiwan

Taiwan’s Citiesocial is a site that sells well-designed, functional knick-knacks through flash-sales. Through the listings, users can find an range of products that one would ordinarily have difficulty getting in a department store or a street-side shop. It is also one of a few ecommerce-oriented startups that have found stability within a Taiwan niche.

2. PawnHero | Philippines (Techlist Profile)

PawnHero is Southeast Asia’s first online pawnshop which seeks to solve the problem of expensive credit for base-of-the-pyramid consumers in emerging markets. In addition to accepting jewellery, the startup also accepts gadgets, electronics, and luxury handbags. Users just have take a picture of the valuable they wish to pawn and in minutes, an estimate if them item will be sent to them.

3. Sourceguru | Singapore (Techlist Profile)

Launched in December 2014, talent marketplace Sourceguru allows clients to publish their project requirements on the platform, and service providers will submit their proposals and bid for the right to work on them.

4. Rapyuta Robotics | Japan and Switzerland (Techlist Profile)

Japan’s Rapyuta Robotics aims to create a cloud infrastructure that will allow all robots connected to it to share each others experiences. This reduces the amount of programming that needs to go into the robot initially and means that all connected robots should get progressively more adaptable.

5. DataStreamX | Singapore (Techlist Profile)

DataStreamX, a Singapore-based marketplace for all kinds of real-time data – weather, traffic, ship movements, and more – in one convenient place. It has an API for both buyers to stream data to their apps after they subscribe to it (DataStreamX takes a cut), and sellers to transfer data from their sensors to the platform and offer it for sale.

6. AirCloset | Japan

AirCloset, a new service by Tokyo-based startup Neuer-Sieg. Each month, women can receive a box containing three trendy garments, hand selected by a professional stylist. The subscriber can wear each piece as many times as they like, and return the box whenever they’re ready to try something new. There’s no limit on how often the boxes are exchanged, and if a subscriber happens to find an item that they just can’t live without, it can be purchased at a price point lower than retail.
