Marking the first partnership between Alipay+ and a Philippine BNPL provider, users will have access to the former’s solutions through the BillEase app.
BillEase was founded in 2015 and launched in 2017 by ex-McKinsey & Company executives Huyen Nguyen, Georg Steiger, and Ritche Weekun. Since then, the firm has worked with over 2,000 merchant partners, including Vivo, Philippine Airlines, Anson’s, and Power Mac Center.
In addition to allowing users to pay in installments, BillEase’s platform can be used to top up digital wallets, pay bills, as well as purchase gaming credits and mobile load.
The fintech firm last received a US$20 million debt facility from Singapore-based Helicap Securities in September last year. It has raised a total of US$55 million so far.
Meanwhile, Alipay+ connects merchants with payment methods from different countries by collaborating with global partners. The Ant Group unit has reached over 2.5 million online and offline merchants internationally.
