4 security startups win $1.82m from Singapore government

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have awarded US$1.82 million to four security-related projects. The grants are part of the MHA’s Security Industry Transformation Map, which is aimed at modernizing the security industry. An IMDA spokesperson declined to provide a breakdown of the funds given to these projects, which vary in scale.

Here are the startups and their prototypes:

Vi Dimensions

Vi Dimensions is building an automated surveillance system for seven malls. The system can be run 24/7 and detect threats automatically, reducing the need for security and patrol personnel.

Xjera Labs

Xjera Labs is also working on automated surveillance, but its customer is Changi Airport. It uses a mix of video and audio analytics to detect anomalies and reduce false positives.

UberGard

UberGard is improving and even replacing the management of physical keys in premises. It’s testing a system that enables building access to a person through automated key retrieval, key-press access, iris scans, and facial recognition.

Arkemis

Arkemis will pilot a security command center at various condominiums. The new center aims to make security management more efficient.
