Rumor: China’s OMG to establish team Oh My Girl, an all-female League of Legends team

We normally don’t report rumors, but when the words are coming out of former LoLadies jungler, Sherry, there just might be some truth to it.

LoLadies was a non-professional all-female Chinese League of Legends team. Although LoLadies participated in tournaments, it was done merely for fun as the team members all had day jobs as commentators, team managers, or models. And because they were busy, the team ultimately disbanded.

But last week, Sherry revealed that a professional female-only League of Legends team would be formed under the OMG organization, and even posted pictures of the team’s new gaming house:

Sherry also updated her Tencent Weibo profile to state that she would be the manager of the team, which is being called OH MY GIRL:

Unfortunately, OMG has not made an official announcement so right now, this is nothing more than a rumor. However if it ends up becoming true, I, for one, am very excited to see how far a veteran organization like OMG can take a female team. After all, more ladies are always welcome in eSports.
