Do this, win that. Now, anyone can create gamified campaigns on their mobile using GameMaki’s newly launched iPhone app (iTunes link). Brands need not ask agencies to create a gamified campaign at a ridiculous price. I learned from Keith Ng, the co-founder and CEO of GameMaki, that a charity organization actually paid more than $80,000 for a gamified campaign. That cost could have been prevented if the organization knew that GameMaki existed.
GameMaki is built to make campaigns fun and effective through gamification. Anyone, either brands or individuals, can post a challenge. If you own, to take a wild example, a durian shop, you can post a challenge that encourages users to share pictures of durians. A durian fanatic on GameMaki could take up the challenge and claim the reward posted by the shop.
GameMaki is also closely integrated with Twitter, and anyone on that platform can be a sort of GameMaki user. To take up a challenge and claim a prize, a Twitter user can include #claimed and #thechallengname (e.g #claimed #durianchallenge) in his or her tweet.
Businesses who use GameMaki can track engagement levels which include the challenge acceptance rate and lead generation. Some of the brands embracing GameMaki include Thalawn The Lawn, Standing Sushi Bar, and Broadway Cafe in Singapore.
Ideate.sg, a views and ideas sharing online platform, is powered by GameMaki’s technology (the team gets paid for that of course). The company behind GameMaki is actually named Gametize, and provides both ‘consumer play’ and enterprise services.
I also learned from Crystal Horse Investments (CHI) that it has recently invested an undisclosed sum in Gametized. One of the investors cheekily told me that it’s a six-digit figure sum which could go anywhere from $100,000 to $999,999. I don’t have anything more specific than that, regrettably!
