Zepto to hit unicorn status after US$250 million raise

Grocery delivery firm Zepto could reportedly breach US$1 billion in valuation as it is expected to raise US$250 million in an ongoing funding round.

The platform, which promises 10-minute deliveries, was founded by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, who both dropped out of Stanford University. The startup came out of stealth mode earlier this year after raising US$60 million in a Glade Brook Capital-led round. Nexus and Y Combinator also took part in the fundraise, as well as several individual investors.

If the deal goes through, Zepto will become one of the fastest startups to enter the unicorn club, joining the likes of Mensa Brands and Apna.

Goldman Sachs to buy into MapmyIndia’s US$138 million IPO

Digital mapmaker MapmyIndia is reportedly getting bids from investment banks and mutual funds ahead of its planned IPO on Thursday.

Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, HDFC, State Bank of India, Aditya Birla Group, and ICICI Bank are some of the institutions eyeing to become anchor investors for the mapmaker. They are set to make official bids on Wednesday.

MapmyIndia is planning to raise US$138 million in the IPO, as it eyes a valuation of 55 billion rupees (US$730 million).

Currency converted from Indian rupees to US dollar: US$1 = 75.33 rupees.
