Roblox demos AI tool to build virtual worlds with text prompts
Roblox has revealed early concepts for its AI-driven feature called “real-time dreaming,” which generates and modifies virtual worlds using prompts.
The company showed a prerecorded video of a Viking-themed environment responding to prompts, like adding a tsunami or a boat, but the technology is still in the research phase with no release timeline.
Roblox’s senior director of product, Karun Channa, said the tools are meant to assist creators in building immersive environments and collaborating through natural language prompts, not replace traditional game development.
Roblox is also launching an open beta for “4D creation” tools, letting developers generate interactive objects within their games.
The tools are accessible via a model picker menu, though initial engagement with the generated objects appears limited so far.
