Rising startups on Tech In Asia: smart farming, ecommerce in Vietnam, and more
Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those we think investors should look at.

1. Tiki (Vietnam)
Tiki, one of Vietnam’s most popular e-commerce sites, has become a formidable competitor to Lazada and Shopee in the country. A strategic investment from JD has enabled Tiki to more easily bring in cross-border products from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. More info.
2. Sendo (Vietnam)
E-commerce marketplace Sendo is venturing into the education space. It plans to offer online courses on the platform. More info.
3. Kuvera (India)
Tech-based wealth management startup Kuvera received US$4.5 million in funding from Eight Roads, the investment arm of Fidelity International. This marks Eight Roads’ first investment in India. More info.
4. Gilfe (Singapore)
Gilfe connects farmers to buyers such as restaurants. It recently raised S$1.6 million (US$1.18 million) in seed funding from Global Founders Capital, 500 Startups, and angel investors, enabling it to expand its products and services to include an invoicing system for restaurants. More info.
5. Daung Capital (Myanmar)
Daung Capital, a lending startup, raised series A funding for an undisclosed amount. The platform has 3,500 active borrowers. More info.
6. TheLorry (Malaysia)
Lorry rental platform TheLorry received a strategic investment from The Unilever Foundry, the global startup collaboration platform of Unilever. The agreement allows TheLorry to scale across Unilever’s network and also gives Unilever equity of convertible preference shares from the startup. More info.
7. XAG (China)
XAG is a drone maker that aims to make agriculture smarter. It also aims to reduce farmers’ exposure to pesticides by implementing drone spraying. More info.
8. Finaxar (Singapore)
Finaxar aims to solve SMEs’ capital and cash flow problems by providing them with innovative credit and payment solutions. The startup snagged a partnership with Visa after presenting a pitch during the Visa Everywhere Initiative. More info.
