Mumbai startup Appie Mobiquity wants to arm offline retailers with tech tools to compete with the savvy ecommerce players. They use cloud computing, analytics, and mobility tech to do that and call themselves “a virtual companion for the offline world.”
Here’s how it works: Merchants can register for an Appie app, which will let them know when a user expresses her intent to buy a certain product on sale. The merchant can then use the app to reach her and quote her a price for the product. If she likes the deal, she can come to the merchant’s store and pick up the product or you can collect the payment and deliver the product yourself.
Today, Appie announced a bridge round of US$1 million in funding from undisclosed angel investors. The money will be used to acquire retailers as its clients.

The company announced a funding round of US$89,000 from Gurgaon-based online advertising network vCommission. Lately, vCommission has been expanding its services beyond its advertising core business through strategic investments. Earlier this month, it announced funding in two startups, LetReach and Spinsvilla, and brought them under its banner.
