How Social Are U.S Restaurants on Facebook [INFOGRAPHC]

us facebookLike movies, restaurants are social in nature and they usually do great on social media. Restaurants are more than just places to have our meals but they’re also discussed regularly. For some, it could even be a daily routine. “It’s almost lunch time. Where should we go today?” Sounds familiar, isn’t it?

Since it’s easier to keep the community excited about a new dish or beverage, a restaurant (compared to a plumbing or gardening business) tends to generate more discussions. Facebook is by far the best social platform to manage a community.

But from the statistics provided by Eyes and Feet, U.S restaurants don’t seem to be very social on Facebook. Houston has the highest proportion of restaurants with Facebook business pages (25%) while Boston and San Jose have the least (4%).

Many restaurants managed to create successful communities via Facebook. Brewerkz, the microbrewery restaurant, is one. When Brewerkz first started its Facebook fan page, it offered its first 1,000 fans free beer. To date, it has over 2,000 fans and this number is growing steadily. The page became a strong avenue for customer service and sharing of photos and videos. Brewerkz also acknowledges winners of its contests through its Facebook avatar to show appreciation. Its Latest Promotion Facebook tab is regularly updated to keep loyal customers in the loop.

Status updates are usually random to spur conversations with the community and the page administrator is extremely responsive to questions, comments and requests. Good customer service is demonstrated on the page, giving others an extra reason to ‘like’ it.
