Reinforcing our community values

tech in asia community

Building and serving Asia’s tech community has always been at the heart of what we do since Day 1. That has never changed.

We understand that some of you may have noticed some recent changes in our Community Team (Thanks, Yan Ting 😉), and this post serves to clarify a few things.

The TIA Community Team will still continue to serve our users via meetups, online pitches, AMAs, community contributed articles, and more. On that end, nothing has changed – in fact, we are working on a better plan to build and strengthen our community efforts.

Instead of having the community team as a standalone department, we have embedded the community mindset and practices into all Tech in Asia functions to serve our users even better.

Community + Media

Our community editors will be housed under the editorial team led by our managing editor Terence Lee. Our editorial team will work closely with our community of writers who submit content to us. We want to ensure that only high quality content reaches our readers.

Community + Events

We want to create more avenues for the tech community to connect with each other. Our community managers will be working closely with the events marketing team, led by myself, to provide you with more opportunities to do so, both online and offline.

Doubling down on community

With this new direction, we are doubling down on community by roping in community managers in our overseas offices. We’ll have Peter Rothenberg from Japan and we are looking for a community manager to join us in Bangalore and Jakarta – if you think you have what it takes to serve the local tech community, we’d like to hear from you!

With all these changes in place, we would like to emphasize that community values will live on forever in Tech in Asia. If you have any feedback, please drop us a note below. We look forward to hear from all of you. 🙂

PS: If you’re interested, please join our TIA Community Facebook group here. For founders, we have this exclusive TIA Founders group set up for you here.
