As part of the partnership, the Singapore-based company’s fintech arm Razer Fintech will join Visa’ fast-track program, where the two companies will develop a virtual Visa prepaid solution to be integrated into the Razer Pay e-wallet. The new prepaid solution will complement Razer Pay’s existing offerings, which include mobile top-ups and virtual credits, as well as music and streaming purchases and subscriptions.
Razer and Visa plan to roll out their solutions progressively in selected countries across Southeast Asia during the following months, prior to expanding globally.
According to a statement, Razer and Visa’s partnership looks to tap into the large unbanked and tech-savvy population of Southeast Asia.
The two companies said their solutions will help improve the financial literacy levels of the region’s population, only 27% of which have a bank account, according to a study by KPMG.
