Ratloop Asia’s Tan Sian Yue took to the stage this morning at Sony’s PlayStation 4 conference in Singapore to talk about Rocketbirds 2: Evolution.
“Rocketbirds started as a PC game and was nominated for three awards at the Independent Game Festival in 2010,” he said. While the game didn’t win then, it did catch Sony’s eye, leading to Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken being developed for the PS3. Rocketbirds has already become a top selling game in Asia, the US, and Europe.
In Rocketbirds 2, you’ll be leading a team of budgerigar commandos to find the protagonist of Rocketbirds 1, the Cock of War. Early footage of the action-platformer showed an impressive improvement in character art and models, though the game is no less bloody and violent.
Apart from your usual penguin perpetrators, it also appears you’ll be engaging with ‘sinister space owls’. The game will also feature collectible gear, though it was unclear from the trailer whether this gear would be purely cosmetic or add to character stats as well.
Rocketbirds 2: Evolution will release in Q2 2014.
