100 Things to Watch in 2011

What are the things to watch in 2011? Look no further. JWT has listed 100 things for us to look out in 2011.

The ‘things’ that are mentioned in the Powerpoint deck below are greatly diverse. They range from beer sommerliers to CAPTCHA advertising.

CAPTCHA advertising is an innovative way to attract eyeballs online. Site owners can save resources on CAPTCHA security features while making money (see above). AdsCAPTCHA’s slogan “stop spam, make money” explains it short and sweet.

The list also includes online ads keeping, coined by Scott Kurnit, founder of AdKeeper (check out my analysis and opinion on AdKeeper).

E-books and tablets are also among the highlights, especially when e-books become shareable. In fact, Social Book, a start-up that specializes on e-boooks has already been working on this concept. Of course, Facebook is also included. This year, we can expect a lot of business pages evolve into a store, where users can buy directly from Facebook (f-commerce). There is also a boom of Facebook alternatives like Diaspora popping out to serve people who seek greater exclusivity or privacy.

I can’t help but feel that China is dearly missed in this list of ‘things to watch in 2011’. The country has gained a lot of attention from the West in recent years. Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg visited the country personally), Groupon, Dell and Google are just a few companies which have declared their interest. China’s massive market potential will be an epic battleground for many industries.

We’ll the rest for you to explore.
