Quikr buys Hiree to match 4 million job seekers with recruiters

Photo credit: Quikr today bought employment startup Hiree, as India’s answer to classifieds sites like Craigslist and OLX seeks to expand its reach in the jobs industry.
Quikr already has a platform called QuikrJobs, but that focuses on blue collar employment. After the Hiree deal, the new platform will connect over 4 million active candidates with recruiters across the country, the companies said in a statement.
Earlier this year Quikr bought CommonFloor to get a bigger footprint in the online real estate market.
Hiree (called MyNoticePeriod when we reported on its US$3 million funding in February last year) has a team of about 100 people.
The startup says its unique proposition is in reducing recruitment time and allowing for “speed hiring.” The company recently had to let go of a bunch of workers as it reorganized itself.
“QuikrJobs is already present for blue collar workers, and Hiree will allow them to get into the white collar industry,” Hiree co-founder and chief executive, Manjunath Talwar told Tech in Asia. “Joining forces with Quikr allows us to double-up our focus on innovating.”
The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Hiree will continue to operate as a separate unit under the Quikr umbrella, Manjunath said.
