Indonesian smart-city firm raises funding from Japan’s KDDI
Japanese telco KDDI announced that it has invested an undisclosed amount in Qlue, an Indonesia-based smart-city startup.

- Lead investor: KDDI through its Open Innovation Fund III operated by Global Brain Corporation
- Other investor: Telkomsel Mitra Inovasi and a biometric service provider Asli RI
- Stage: Series B

- With this investment, KDDI plans to combine its technology solution and customer base in Southeast Asia with the Qlue platform. Qlue and KDDI’s Indonesia branch have agreed to realize this plan.
- In 2020, Qlue’s business grew by 70% compared to the previous year. Its solutions have also been used by 133 companies in 75 Indonesian cities.
- The company has also developed QlueThermal, a solution that can detect body temperature and mask usage amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
