Digital printing service Printerous, headquartered in Indonesia, raised a US$1.4 million pre-series A investment led by Singapore’s Golden Gate Ventures, the startup announced today.

Printerous lets companies and individuals custom print designs on things like business cards, office stationery, marketing materials, clothing, packagings, and merchandise. Customers send their designs over the internet and can get orders delivered.

Its trio of co-founders are experienced entrepreneurs.

The startup connects with printing service providers, which makes for an effective way to match the printing needs of small and mid-sized businesses to production capacities.

Printerous also does individual printing jobs like photo prints, photo books, wall decors, gadget cases, and pillows.

Digital printing in Indonesia is a market worth US$9.1 billion in 2017, says Printerous, citing numbers from a study done by the Economist Intelligence Unit. This would make it the biggest market of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Industry veterans

Printerous co-founders Kevin Osmond, Christian Soeseno Boenarso, and David Soong are experienced entrepreneurs. Kevin and David have been involved with Tiket and Bridestory, while Christian, as head of marketing and digital printing at Subur Printing Group, brings connections to one of Indonesia’s most established printing companies.

The three started Printerous nearly five years ago and today claim to serve more than 22,000 customers and 1,100 companies. It has a team of 40 people spread across offices in Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

Printerous last raised funds in 2015, in an angel round.

Now, the company has its eye set on regional expansion in Southeast Asia.

Sovereign Capital and Indonesia’s Gunung Sewu Kencana also participated in this new round.
