Founded in 2018, Populix connects businesses, institutions, and individuals with pools of respondents across Indonesia.
Through its platform, researchers can launch studies, commission projects, subscribe to a customized panel of respondents, as well as buy ready-made datasets and reports. Meanwhile, respondents can participate in studies and complete tasks to earn points, vouchers, and monetary rewards.
Populix currently has over 300,000 verified respondents on its platform that cover various generational groups in Indonesia. The company said it has worked with more than 1,500 clients since 2020 and that its revenue has grown 3x over the past year.
The firm plans to use the new funds to double down on digitizing its data collection process, continue optimizing its existing products, release new services, and expand regionally. The startup will also kick off its expansion plans into neighboring Southeast Asian countries by 2023.
“Populix shows that new business models can emerge in unexpected places and uproot preconceived notions of what consumer insights can do for businesses by adapting to the unique contexts of Indonesia,” said Theresia Gouw, founding partner of Silicon Valley-based Acrew Capital.
