Podcast – When should you do an MBA?
It’s the age-old question: Should I do an MBA? Some will advise you that it’s essential, others will say it’s not worth your time, but who is giving good advice?
On the latest episode of The Unreasonable Podcast, hosts Goh Hian, Vishal Harnal, and Michael Blakey discussed what’s unreasonable about some of the best advice they’ve ever been given. All three hosts are partners at top VCs based in Singapore, so they know a thing or two about getting ahead in the tech ecosystem.
While part of the episode focused on why and when to get an MBA, they also tackled other advice, like the value of failure, tips for angel investing, and more.
Here are five highlights we picked out:
1:34 – Why you need an MBA to get the job you want at the age of 48 – not for the job you want when you’re 28.
4:42 – Why an MBA is vital if you want to get ahead in the corporate world but less so if you want to found your own company.
10:55 – Why taking risks is so important in all aspects of life.
28:27 – Why angel investors shouldn’t work alone and need someone to call them on their bullshit.
32:50 – Why being in VC is not about the deals, investing, companies, or the venture itself – it’s about capital and mastering capital formation.
