Animoca backs $10m round of metaverse-bound healthtech firm
India-based GOQii, a tech-enabled healthcare platform, has raised US$10 million in an extended series C funding round from Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based blockchain gaming unicorn.
GOQii has also partnered with Animoca to develop a health-focused metaverse ecosystem with a new virtual token program called Token.

Customers can collect these tokens by completing tasks on the app. They can then use these tokens to unlock products, services, buy NFTs, and participate in special events and game modes. Users can also use tokens to access curated and discounted health-focused goods, medical services, and insurance products. The metaverse also allows users to interact with others by creating their own NFT avatar.
GOQii’s metaverse foray builds on GOQii Cash, a virtual rewards program that launched in 2018. GOQii Cash can be redeemed at the company’s health store for discounts.
GOQii, which is also backed by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Tata Group chair emeritus Ratan Tata, was founded in 2014.
The announcement comes after GOQii raised US$50 million in a series C round led by Sumeru Ventures. Modality, 9Unicorns, Venture Catalysts, Mitsui, The Times Group, Ascendo, and others participated also in that round.
