Entrepreneurship with a Difference – Hope Through Entrepreneurship
Singapore 2nd July 2007 , Spirit of Enterprise awards focuses on honoring and inspiring a wider cross section of entrepreneurs in Singapore. Instead of only honoring highly established entrepreneurs, the Spirit of Enterprise award seeks to recognize budding entrepreneurs who have exhibited much enterprise and spirit in their entrepreneurial pursuits.
Programs covers educating students in entrepreneurship through projects in school and through the interview process with would be honorees of their entrepreneurship journey, thereby inspiring the young minds to think about entrepreneurship.
SOE honors entrepreneurs who have dared to take the road less traveled, and seeks to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs by getting students to interview them.
How does entrepreneurship offer Hope? It is our belief that by helping more entrepreneurs especially the smaller ones SOE are helping the society as a whole with improving livelihood of their families and creating employment. The tag line of “Hope Through entrepreneurship” summarizes it all.
Voting for Honourees of Spirit Of Enterprise 2007 opens to the public for the whole month of July 2007. In this fifth year of the Awards, 42 Honourees will be picked from among the 156 nominees entered.
Last year, close to 40,000 public votes were received and the Spirit Of Enterprise (SOE) Board of Governors finally selected 41 Honourees.
Well-known nominees this year include celebrity stylist Mr David Gan of Passion Hair Salon Pte Ltd, supermarket chain owner Mr Lim Hock Chee of Sheng Siong Supermarket Pte Ltd, Feng Shui practitioner Ms Adelina Pang of Adelina Pang Fengshui Consultancy Pte Ltd, as well as other household names such as Mr Kevin Loh of Campaign Cleaning Services, Dr Lee Chee Wee of Lynk Biotechnologies Pte Ltd, Mr K Sivaraman Nair of India Saree Emporium Pte Ltd, Mr Stephen Chia of AUK Management Services Pte Ltd, Mr Mansinghani Kishore Mirchumal of PowerUp Capital Network Pte Ltd and Mr Ivan Lee of Thai Express (S) Pte Ltd.

Voters can vote for a minimum of 5 nominees and a maximum of 42 nominees. An online voting system will facilitate the election process until September 2007.
In conjunction with the Awards, a new collection of success stories of entrepreneurs will be published as the latest in the SOE Books On Entrepreneurship series. The book will be released later this year.
