Are you out of a job or unhappy in your current position and looking for new work? Or perhaps you want part-time gigs for extra pay? Here’s a startup that wants to make the hunt a little easier for you.
Matchimi is a mobile app that uses algorithms to match job seekers with available work – from full-time placements to part-time jobs.
“Through eliminating irrelevant jobs, the Matchimi mobile application increases a jobseeker’s chances of clinching a job through matching them with jobs that they qualify for,” Zheng Rong Loh, the company’s business development guy, tells Tech in Asia.
“Matchimi will save job seekers a lot of time, energy, and money. Instead of going out and visiting companies to apply, you can apply from anywhere comfortably,” adds chief technology officer Beejay Urzo.
Like other job platforms, Matchimi recognizes the need for employers and workers to be highly responsive so it offers a messaging feature that allows them to communicate directly with one another.
Mobile-first
The startup is based in Singapore but it has recently launched in the Philippines, where there are strong incumbents in the job matching and assessment space such as Jobstreet and Kalibrr.
But Matchimi differentiates itself by being mobile-first: users can apply for a position or respond to prospective employers on the go, increasing their chances of getting hired. Its main come-on is a real-time location feature that allows users to find jobs nearby.
It wants to carve a niche by mainly targeting part-time job seekers who may want to look for another job near their current place of work or their home. It is also friendly to low-wage workers, who are more likely to use their phones as the primary way to access the internet.
“We want to fill the gaps in the recruitment industry. What Matchimi offers can improve the current recruitment experience and effectiveness, and is not captured by the incumbents,” Loh notes.
HR suite
For employers, Matchimi also provides a full suite to manage their human resource needs. The software-as-a-service offering helps companies manage their existing pool of workers, particularly part-timers, while reaching out to new ones.
The suite enables them to recruit, consolidate staff’s attendance at separate offices or outlets with a proprietary clock in-out feature, and automate their pay and incentives system.
