(1) Based on the World Airline Ranking compiled by Airline Business magazine, Philippine Airlines (PAL) ranked 61st in the world, raking in a total of 17.8 billion Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK).

(2) The three telecommunication giants in the Philippines supported the National Telecommunications Commission’s move to bring down interconnection charges. The proposal will bring down charges on voice calls from its current rate of P4 down to P2 per minute, while SMS rates will be reduced by P0.10 from P0.35.

(3) Franchise Asia 2011, to be hosted by the Philippines in September, will be akin to an assembly for the United Nations with more than 20 countries each sending their respective franchise brands.

(6) Prospects for the Philippine economy remain favorable in 2011 as investments, private consumption and the services sector are expected to strengthen, the quarterly update released by the World Bank said.

(7) Entrepreneurs in Philippines no longer have to deal with long queues to remit their contributions and that of their employees when the Social Security System (SSS) implements their new remittance schedule starting this month.
