Last November, the Persona 3 movie Spring of Birth was released in Japan. Spring of Birth was the first of what will be a series of films that retell the events of the beloved JRPG Persona 3. The film was the number one movie in Japan three weeks in a row, which is great for a movie based off a video game.
Spring of Birth follows Makoto Yuki, who is transferring to Gekkoukan High School. Once he arrives, he finds himself in something called the Dark Hour, where the residents of the area are frozen in time, but shadow monsters are able to move around and attack. Makoto awakens his Persona, defends the town, and finds himself on one heck of an adventure.

But the adventure will not end with Spring of Birth. Anime Japan announced today that the sequel, Midsummer Knight Dream, will be in theaters June 7, 2014. A trailer, which you can watch here, has also been released. The film will initially be shown across Japan in select theaters. There is no further word on whether there will be an English adaptation.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale shortly, while the movie soundtrack will be available next weekend. If you purchase this soundtrack at $30, you will get a free ticket to the upcoming movie. Seeing how ticket to see a movie costs roughly $20 in Japan, that’s a pretty good deal, although, you’ll have to keep reading Games in Asia for where to buy the soundtrack, as the list of retailers hasn’t yet been revealed.
