Founded in 2013, Omise provides online payment solutions to merchants. Prior to Malaysia, the startup was already operating in Thailand, Japan, and Singapore.

In Malaysia, the company has been registered as a merchant acquirer in the country’s central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia. It has also partnered with Maybank to use the bank’s cash management solutions in the country.

Omise’s Malaysia operation will be led by Ivy Lee, who previously held executive roles in CIMB, a multinational bank, and iPay88, another Malaysia-based payment gateway.

The company told Tech in Asia that its priority is to bed down and support its local team in Malaysia. However, Omise is also considering expanding to other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
