SoBanHang bags fresh funding for AI push, regional expansion

SoBanHang, a business-to-business SaaS firm based in Vietnam, has secured pre-series A funding as it bets heavily on AI-powered financial tools for SMEs and looks to expand regionally.

The startup, whose name means “sales book” in Vietnamese, declined to disclose the final size of the round, saying that the fundraising is ongoing. But according to its regulatory filings with Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, it has gained US$3.8 million to date.

OSK-SBI Venture Partners, a joint venture between Malaysia’s OSK Group and Japan’s SBI Group, participated in the round. Other investors include Hong Leong Bank, FEBE Ventures, and Antler.

In an interview with Tech in Asia, co-founder and CEO Hai Nam Bui explains that SoBanHang will use the fresh funds to scale in Vietnam, build an AI-native product suite for SMEs, and strengthen its internal AI capabilities.

Nam believes Vietnam’s SMEs are entering a “compressed digitalization” phase that could allow businesses to skip traditional enterprise resource planning systems altogether.

“That’s created the perfect environment for not only digital transformation but AI-native solutions,” Nam says.

In addition, the company is eyeing expansion across Southeast Asia, which could take off next year. However, Nam declined to say which countries it is planning to enter.

All in for AI

Founded as a point-of-sale platform for nano- and microbusinesses, SoBanHang has evolved into an AI-native financial software as payments, accounting, invoicing, and tax compliance in Vietnam move toward digitization.

The company is building a product suite called FinanOne, which Nam describes as an “AI-native business and finance operating system for SMEs.”

FinanOne aims to automate operational and financial workflows such as reconciliation, bookkeeping preparation, invoice matching, and cash flow management.

“The business owner doesn’t need to manually configure all the systems,” Nam explains. “They can use plain language, and the system will generate workflows, reports, and even run processes on their behalf.”
