Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has surpassed Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos to become the world’s second richest person, with a net worth of US$206.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This surge in wealth, amounting to US$78 billion since the start of 2024, is linked to Meta’s strong stock market performance, with shares hitting a record high of US$582.77 as of Thursday.

In the second quarter, Meta’s sales rose 22% year-on-year to US$39.07 billion, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of over 20% growth.
