Zomato, Paytm featured in new Indian stock exchange index

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has launched the Nifty India Internet & E-commerce Index to track the performance of online businesses.

The index, introduced on Feb. 28, features 21 companies, including Zomato, Paytm, Swiggy, and IndiaMART InterMESH.

The index includes stocks from the consumer services, financial services, and media sectors.

Zomato, PB Fintech, and Info Edge are among the leading constituents, contributing over 56% of the index’s weight.

Stock weights are based on free-float market capitalization, capped at 20%, with the index rebalanced quarterly and reconstituted semi-annually.

The index acts as a benchmark for fund portfolios and ETFs, with a base value of 1,000, set on Oct. 1, 2021.
