Zerodha invests $5m in Indian market intelligence firm Tijori
Zerodha has invested US$5 million in Tijori Finance, a market intelligence startup based in India.
The funding will be used to develop Tijori’s suite of AI-powered research tools for analysts and equity researchers, and to expand its enterprise offerings.
Tijori Finance, founded by Siddharth Hegde, Tejas Goenka, and Varun Marda, provides a platform that combines structured financial data with information from company filings and reports.
The investment comes after Tijori’s research widgets were integrated into Zerodha’s trading platform, Kite.
Tijori currently has around 15,000 paying users and has launched features such as AI-driven alerts for exchange filings and automated earnings call transcripts.
Ownership details after the investment were not disclosed.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Missing metrics make it hard to tell if US$5M is material or modest for Tijori
- The article says there are 15,000 paying users but leaves out revenue, Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), and pricing tiers.
- Tijori’s site gates features behind a paywall, yet it publishes no tier prices or Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). Without that, readers cannot back-calc Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) or judge how well it earns 1.
- Growth since the Kite integration is missing. A user count that doubled signals different traction than a 10% lift, yet the article gives no timeline or rate.
Indian brokers will race to match Zerodha’s AI research edge, creating vendor opportunities
- Zerodha embedding Tijori’s widgets will push rivals to add similar tools. Groww, a large Indian online brokerage, counts 125.80 lakh (12.58 million; lakh equals 100,000) clients. Angel One, a full-service broker, serves 73.20 lakh (7.32 million). Upstox, a discount broker, reaches 25.71 lakh (2.571 million). All three compete on user experience 2.
- AI and data vendors, plus cloud providers, can target the top brokers by active clients. Together they serve over 220 lakh (over 22 million) users and face pressure to add similar intelligence 2.
- Fintech investors can map the broker landscape with more than 2,000 Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)-registered brokers and a curated top-100 list to find acquisition or partnership targets as embedded research demand rises 3.
