YZi Labs backs HK digital asset firm’s $1b BNB treasury plan

B Strategy, a Hong Kong-based digital asset investment firm, plans to launch a US-listed BNB treasury company targeting a US$1 billion raise, with support from YZi Labs.

The initiative will use a US-listed vehicle to hold and manage BNB and invest in technology development, grants, and community projects in the BNB ecosystem.

B Strategy is led by co-founders from Metalpha and the former CFO of Bitmain. It has attracted anchor investment from several Asia-based family offices.

The company says it will emphasize transparency and independent verification of holdings.

YZi Labs, formerly known as Binance Labs, manages over US$10 billion in assets and is supporting the launch.

B Strategy expects to announce the closing of its financing soon.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Crypto asset management market growth creates opportunity for specialized vehicles

B Strategy’s $1 billion BNB treasury launch comes as the broader crypto asset management market experiences significant expansion.

The crypto asset management sector is projected to reach $9.36 billion by 2030, driven by increased institutional adoption of digital assets2. This growth trajectory provides favorable conditions for specialized investment vehicles focused on specific blockchain ecosystems.

Current market leaders demonstrate the potential scale available. Grayscale Investments operates as the largest digital currency asset manager with $17.5 billion in assets under management, while Digital Currency Group manages over $50 billion across 200+ portfolio companies2.

B Strategy’s leadership team brings relevant experience to capitalize on this trend. Leon Lu previously co-founded Metalpha, where a Bitmain-seeded crypto fund achieved 276% returns over approximately 24 months, while Max Hua served as CFO at Bitmain overseeing global finance and investment activities1.

The company’s “Berkshire Hathaway of BNB” positioning combines direct token holdings with ecosystem investments, similar to how established managers like Multicoin Capital manage $9 billion across cryptocurrencies and blockchain companies2.

2️⃣ Asia-Pacific presence offers strategic advantage for global crypto asset management

B Strategy’s plan to leverage extensive Asia-Pacific operations while maintaining U.S. public listing reflects the geographic realities of crypto asset management.
