Yahoo removes DEI pages, aligns with US policy
Yahoo has removed several pages from its corporate website that pertained to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
These changes occurred between December 2024 and January 2025, according to archived versions of the site.
The 2022 diversity report is also no longer accessible, resulting in a “page not found” error. Links to the former DEI page on the company’s careers website now redirect to the leadership page.
Brenden Lee, a Yahoo spokesperson, said that the updates were part of a redesign aimed at simplifying navigation and emphasizing advertising and business solutions. The redesign reportedly reduced website content by 60%.
Yahoo’s changes align with broader trends among US companies regarding DEI policies. Firms such as Google, Meta, and Amazon have also removed DEI-related content from their websites.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ The cyclical pattern of corporate DEI commitments during political transitions
Yahoo’s actions fit into a larger pattern of how corporations adjust their public DEI posture during political transitions.
Multiple tech giants have made similar changes recently, with Google eliminating diversity hiring targets, Meta dismantling its DEI team, and Amazon removing diversity language from its annual reports 1.
This trend shows how DEI initiatives often become politicized, with companies responding to perceived regulatory risks rather than basing decisions solely on business metrics.
While public-facing DEI communications may change, research from the World Economic Forum shows companies with diverse management teams experience 19% higher revenues due to innovation 2, creating tension between political adaptation and business performance.
The current wave of changes reflects responses to Trump administration executive orders encouraging federal contractors to eliminate DEI programs deemed “illegal” 3, demonstrating how quickly corporate policies can shift following changes in the political landscape.
2️⃣ Rebranding rather than eliminating: The strategic corporate response
Many companies are rebranding their diversity initiatives rather than abandoning them completely, suggesting a strategic repositioning rather than a full retreat.
UnitedHealth Group, for example, removed dedicated DEI webpages but adopted alternative language emphasizing a “culture of belonging” 4, indicating a terminological shift rather than a complete elimination of inclusion efforts.
