Y Combinator backs $35m round for AI-powered tax platform Numeral

Numeral, a San Francisco-based sales tax compliance platform for ecommerce and software as a service (SaaS) companies, has raised US$35 million in a series B round led by Mayfield, with participation from Benchmark, Uncork Capital, Y Combinator, and Mantis.

The firm’s total funding now stands at US$57 million, following prior seed and series A rounds.

Numeral said the new funds will be used to expand its product and AI automation capabilities.

The company now serves over 2,000 customers and has processed more than US$5 billion in transaction volume, filing 150,000 sales tax returns to date.

Founded in 2023, Numeral’s platform handles tasks such as nexus tracking, registration, filing, and remittance across more than 60 countries.
