Xpeng’s robotics arm raises over $900m series A

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng said its robotics business – listed as Xiaopeng Pengxing – has raised more than US$900 million in a series A round that values the unit at a post-funding valuation of over US$6.3 billion.

Xpeng said the Hong Kong-based IDG Capital led the round, with participation from Gaorong Ventures and support from Tencent and Alibaba as strategic investors. The company will retain controlling ownership.

The company said the funding will go to hardware and software R&D, physical AI training, smart manufacturing infrastructure, and global expansion.

This comes as Xpeng had already unveiled its new Iron robot in November 2025, which is set for mass production in late 2026.

An initial launch is scheduled to take place in Xpeng retail stores and campuses, followed by a global launch and customer deliveries in 2027.
