Two flying cars from Xpeng Aeroht, a subsidiary of Chinese EV maker Xpeng, collided during a rehearsal for the Changchun air show in China, raising concerns about eVTOL safety.

One of the vehicles caught fire after landing, while the other landed safely, the company said.

Xpeng Aeroht, based in China, develops electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) and became part of Xpeng in 2020.

Video footage showed smoke and firetrucks at the scene, with authorities now investigating the cause.

No injuries were reported, and the area has been cleared.

The incident comes as Xpeng Aeroht prepares to deliver its Land Aircraft Carrier, an EV with a detachable eVTOL module, set for mass production in 2026.

The accident follows a recent recall of Xpeng’s P7+ electric sedans due to a steering fault.
