Xiaomi unveils AI model to expand robotics push

Xiaomi said on July 15 that it had released its embodied foundation model, Xiaomi-Robotics-1.

In a Weibo post, founder, chairman, and chief executive Lei Jun said Xiaomi had also “preliminarily verified” a scaling-law effect in embodied foundation models.

Xiaomi describes Xiaomi-Robotics-U0 is designed to help robots understand and stimulate real-world environments rather than directly control them.

Xiaomi said U0 can stimulate robot environments and predict interaction. The company also said the model ranks first among more than 100 models on WorldArena.

Xiaomi has been in robotics for years through CyberDog and CyberOne, a humanoid robot shown in 2022, suggesting the new model builds on the company’s existing robotics program.
