Xiaomi announced on Mar. 14, that its Android smartphones sold in India will include PhonePe’s Indus Appstore as a preinstalled application.

This partnership, formed through a multi-year agreement, will replace Xiaomi’s GetApps platform on new devices. The Google Play Store will also remain preinstalled.

Details about the rollout for existing devices or the integration timeline have not been disclosed.

The Indus Appstore is designed for Indian users, supporting 12 local languages and offering over 500,000 apps. It features a video-led discovery option.

PhonePe does not charge developers fees for in-app purchases to compete with platforms like Google Play Store. However, the company has not shared data on the app store’s performance in terms of downloads or revenue.
