Xiaomi to ramp up YU7 EV production after 40k deliveries

Xiaomi’s billionaire co-founder pledged to accelerate YU7 electric car production after deliveries hit 40,000 in three months, tackling a key hurdle to his long-term goals.

The YU7, which debuted on June 26, 2025 is Xiaomi’s latest EV and its first sport utility vehicle.

Xiaomi, a Chinese electronics company known for its smartphones, is pushing to boost production to meet high demand in China’s competitive automotive sector.

The company reported that orders for the YU7 exceeded 240,000 within 18 hours of launch, though some included refundable deposits.

Current delivery times for new YU7 orders are estimated between 45 to 48 weeks, down from up to 59 weeks last month.
